Pay Attention!
Sit back.
Listen.
Please pay attention.
I’ve got me a story to tell
About a young girl who grew up in hell Chicago’s the place
The time I can’t say
She was traumatized by all the lies
Fears she kept inside
The pain she tried to hide
For nobody knew
They couldn’t sense her truth
She had nobody to turn to
Sit back.
Listen.
Please pay attention.
This young girl
She fell for love
She fell for a Sagittarius
The only man she thought that she could trust
Until she realized it was only lust
An open wound that just won’t heal
She wanted to chase the feeling
But knew it wasn’t real
When will she escape her hell?
Undoubtedly, we all have a story to tell about some experience in our lives that we feel could benefit another in some way, shape, form and/or fashion. It’s just so unfortunate we often have to make use of fiction to convey our very realities.
Are you familiar with that saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words”? What if I told you I have thousand poems that can paint one picture? Would you believe me?
Growing up I was told, “Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.” So how can a picture be worth a thousand words if only half the story is there?
Picture this, if you will. Much like families keep photo albums of those precious moments in their lives I too did the same, but I kept a poetry book to depict my experiences.
